Horror film buffs can’t seem to get enough of a good scare. Unfortunately, many horror movies tend to use tired “gotcha” moments and plots that don’t keep the viewer very involved. Rather than relying on gore or camera trickery, Seconds, starring Rock Hudson, focuses on the descent of a man who has lost his way in life and the terrible lengths a company is willing to go to in order to help him start over.

Seconds is a black and white film and has a very Twilight Zone kind of feel to it.I was looking for more information and found it here. Rock Hudson, known mostly for his roles in romantic movies, does an amazing job of acting. The mood and tenor of the film are very film noir, and there is even some nudity, which was quite startling for the time.

The ending, however, has been called one of the most depressing and/or horrifying in all of moviedom. Be sure to keep the lights on, and keep an open mind to get the full shock of all that Seconds has to offer.

This summer, their are plenty of movies to choose from. But only five will have you leaving the theater in pure awe. Those movies are The Dark Knight Rises, Moonrise Kingdom, The Amazing Spider-Man, Promethius and Neighborhood Watch.
Of the five selected, the absolute must see is Dark Knight Rises. The movie, which is the final in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy, will be the most fitting end to the series imaginable.
Another super hero movie that will be great to see is The Amazing Spider-Man. This movie is a reboot of the franchise, so it will be interesting to see just where they go with it. It will be interesting for sure.
If you are more into the quirky, indie movies, then Moonrise Kingdom is right up your alley. The newest film from Wes Anderson, this movie will have you inspired by the time you leave.
The prequel to Alien, Promethius, is getting rave reviews and will have any fan of the franchise happy while they exit the theater.
Lastly, Neighborhood watch will keep everyone laughing during its run. It features Vince Vaughn and Ben Still, so you know it will be good.
Do not hesitate to check out these great movies all this summer. You will not be disappointed.

There are a lot of great new releases on satellite and at the box office and maybe a few you haven’t even heard of. If you like movies as much as we do you’re going to love our top three picks for what to pick up or check out this weekend:
30 Minutes or Less: This slapstick style comedy revolves around the idea of a pizza man turned bomber, by force. It’s hilarious in its own right but don’t expect groundbreaking television – it’s just a silly movie.
Cars 2: The kid in you will really enjoy this animated follow up to the Pixar classic but don’t get too excited. Although it’s well done and has many of the same characters it just doesn’t have the spark of the original.
The Change Up: Ryan Reynolds gives us another great performance opposite Jason Bateman in this rude 21st century comedy. It’s not the most original premise in the world but it’s funny and it’s great for a date night, too. Just don’t watch it with your mom.

Buckle up for this high-octane thriller! What a better way to spend the evening with family and friends than by gathering together to take in an awesome flick! Pulsating edge of your seat action, along with rollercoaster plots and twists makes this one of the best action thrillers to check out”this movie is a must see! From the opening scene the movie is a well crafted story and the provocative cinematography, offering visual effects and imagery that bring the story to life, suggests a movie to watch more than once and want to share with family and friends. The cast portrayal of the highly developed characters lends to a complex world built within a storyline filled with mayhem, tension and draw-dropping action scenes.
Being a fan of thrillers, from high-tech settings and mind-blowing effects to subtle noir thrillers of days gone by, action thrillers speak best by bringing the world of intensity, compelling and contrasting characters and storylines along with what we all love”the brilliance of a heart-pounding, hand sweating car chase to a robbery gone deadly wrong, to espionage, or what is that noise at the top of the stairs.if this combo is your type of movie, this movie promises to leave you on edge, exhilarated and wishing for a sequel.

Movie buffs who have a soft spot from drama know all the popular drama movies (such as The Shawshank Redemption or Godfather). However, there are hundreds of drama films released regularly that do not get the attention they deserve. One of these films is The Resident.

Released in 2011, The Resident stars well-known Hollywood actors including Hilary Swank, Jeffery Dean Morgan and Christopher Lee. The story centers around Juliet Devereau, a young doctor, who movies into a Brooklyn loft after ending her relationship with her boyfriend. She begins to flirt with Max, the owner of the old apartment complex. However, she still has feelings for her ex and begins to see him once again. Max, who is more than a little unstable, becomes obsessed with Juliet interpreting her flirting for more than what it was. His actions slowly turn dangerous after Juliet continuously rejects his advances. As his emotions and rage continues to build, Max’s actions turn deadly and he will stop at nothing to have the object of his obsession.

Directed by Antti Jokinen, The Resident combines the drama genre with thriller undertones to bring an interesting tale of obsessive love. Even though The Resident will not go down as a classic, it is well worth the watch and should be considered when you are looking for a new film to check out.

Few movies stir your thoughts even as they break your heart, but Never Let Me Go manages to do just this”and in the most poignantly understated of ways. In combining the ethical dilemmas of speculative fiction with the bittersweet beauty of star-crossed love, director Mark Romanek successfully translates to the screen the qualities that make Kazuo Ishiguro-s novel unforgettable.

This is a movie that deals with human cloning, but it is not a movie about human cloning. Romanek glosses over the gritty details, focusing instead on the broader issues at stake. Is it ever permissible to use one-s fellow humans? Do the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few? What constitutes humanity? As our understanding of science improves, such questions become more and more pressing, and Never Let Me Go does not shy away from exploring them.

What makes this movie timeless, though, is its treatment even more fundamental issues. Never Let Me Go ends with its main character wondering whether her life is so different from that of a “normal’ person. It is an odd moment; one-s knee-jerk reaction is to see her life as senseless and barren. A moment-s reflection, however, reveals that the questions that preoccupy her”whether life has meaning, and if so, what makes it meaningful”are the same ones that have forever troubled humanity. It is for this reason, if for no other, that Never Let Me Go is worth watching.

There are some movies that have the knack for bringing a family together. These films have a little bit of something for everyone to enjoy and cheer on.

“Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone,” based on the book by J.K. Rowling, is one of these films. Its charming nature instantly captures that attention of all who watch it. The film has a wonderful cast, chosen carefully to match the characters from the original book. The movie is also safe for all members of the family, no matter if they are young or old.

Harry has to overcome many obstacles throughout the film, allowing everyone in the family to relate to his experiences. The magic, Hogwarts castle, Diagon Alley and other settings in the film will interest the whole family. The film also has a good plot, making it interesting to watch from start to finish.

The whole family will love cheering Harry on as he learns to do magic, fly on a broomstick and face Lord Voldemort for the first time. It is also a film that everyone will love to watch over and over again, seeing something new each time. This is a great film for a family fun night.

The 1954 film, On the Waterfront, is one of the best motion pictures of all time and won an Academy award for Best Picture. The drama weaves a story of corruption and violence that takes place among various dock workers. The film was directed by Elia Kazan and was written by Bud Schulberg.

Marlon Brando stars in the movie and plays his part brilliantly. He did not win an Oscar nomination, but his portrayal of the beaten down and beaten up boxer, Terry Malloy is classic. The scene where Brando utters, “I coulda been a contenda,’ sums up the struggles of his character who has searched his entire life to be somebody.

Instead, Malloy ends up running errands for his crooked boss and being a witness to a murder. Malloy has to decide what he should do, tell the police what he saw or stay loyal to his greedy and corrupt union boss, Johnny Friendly, played by Lee J. Cobb.. Telling the authorities what he saw, puts his brother-s life in jeopardy. Rod Steiger plays Malloy-s brother, Charley Malloy.

The film also stars Eva Marie Saint who plays Brando-s love interest, Edie Doyle, and is the sister of the young man whom Terry saw murdered. Karl Malden rounds off the cast. He plays, Father Barry who gets Brando to listen to his conscious and compels him to tell the truth, which eventually causes the life of his brother and brings down his boss.

On The Waterfront, is a gripping melodrama that will remain one of the best acted and directed films of all time. It was nominated for twelve Oscars and won eight. Leonard Bernstein composed the soundtrack.
